Independent sets and non-augmentable paths in arc-locally in-semicomplete digraphs and quasi-arc-transitive digraphs
AbstractA digraph is arc-locally in-semicomplete if for any pair of adjacent vertices x,y, every in-neighbor of x and every in-neighbor of y either are adjacent or are the same vertex. A digraph is quasi-arc-transitive if for any arc xy, every in-neighbor of x and every out-neighbor of y either are adjacent or are the same vertex. Laborde, Payan and Xuong proposed the following conjecture: Every digraph has an independent set intersecting every non-augmentable path (in particular, every longest path). In this paper, we shall prove that this conjecture is true for arc-locally in-semicomplete digraphs and quasi-arc-transitive digraphs
Sufficient conditions for super k-restricted edge connectivity in graphs of diameter 2
AbstractFor a connected graph G=(V,E), an edge set S⊆E is a k-restricted edge cut if G−S is disconnected and every component of G−S has at least k vertices. The k-restricted edge connectivity of G, denoted by λk(G), is defined as the cardinality of a minimum k-restricted edge cut. Let ξk(G)=min{|[X,X¯]|:|X|=k,G[X]is connected}. G is λk-optimal if λk(G)=ξk(G). Moreover, G is super-λk if every minimum k-restricted edge cut of G isolates one connected subgraph of order k. In this paper, we prove that if |NG(u)∩NG(v)|≥2k−1 for all pairs u, v of nonadjacent vertices, then G is λk-optimal; and if |NG(u)∩NG(v)|≥2k for all pairs u, v of nonadjacent vertices, then G is either super-λk or in a special class of graphs. In addition, for k-isoperimetric edge connectivity, which is closely related with the concept of k-restricted edge connectivity, we show similar results
Claiming a Piece of Sky
When you wander into a workers’ village on the outskirts of Shanghai, China, you would see a very unique type of urban vernacular: suspended additions hanging on the façade. They are the inhabitants’ attempt to transform the adverse spatial situations of the socialist-style workers’ village and to create a viable form of life in contemporary Shanghai by privatizing the public space, even the one in the sky.
Through texts, maps, photographs and illustrations, this thesis explores, documents and develops an understanding of both the mechanisms and physical characteristics of those urban vernacular spaces, to showcase inhabitants’ ingenuity in creating innovative spatial praxes as well as their political agenda in seeking a voice within the state-controlled renewal process. It is in this context that this thesis seeks opportunities to re-imagine a inhabitants-led renewal in Tianlin second villages and asks: how can architects turn the political and spatial agency of inhabitants into constructive catalysts and to empower the inhabitants to design, construct and modify their unique extension to suit their current and future spatial needs. In addition, how can the design build upon the existing innovative spatial praxes and further encourage corridor social interaction to dissolve social barriers between different groups.
This thesis proposes to modify the existing two-stage consultation renewal process into a two-stage co-governance renewal model, influenced by the open building theories of the Dutch architect John Harbraken. As a first stage, “the support” entails establishing a regulatory framework that is negotiated and communicated between residents and authority. In the second stage, “the infill”, each inhabitant can fully engage in the design and construction of their own addition within the framework established in the first stage. There are two systems that facilitate the infill process: the “we-design” toolkit and the “we-build” kit-of-parts. The “we-design” toolkit is an assemblage of physical modular blocks designed to unlock the fine-grain spatial agency of autonomous individuals. Similar to an Ikea furniture, the “we-build” kit-of-part features an easy assembly and disassembly process that allows the inhabitants to claim a piece of sky by themselves
Local ROI Reconstruction via Generalized FBP and BPF Algorithms along More Flexible Curves
We study the local region-of-interest (ROI) reconstruction
problem, also referred to as the local CT problem. Our scheme
includes two steps: (a) the local truncated normal-dose
projections are extended to global dataset by combining a few
global low-dose projections; (b) the ROI are reconstructed by
either the generalized filtered backprojection (FBP) or
backprojection-filtration (BPF) algorithms. The simulation results
show that both the FBP and BPF algorithms can reconstruct
satisfactory results with image quality in the ROI comparable to
that of the corresponding global CT reconstruction
Bis(N,N-dimethylformamide-κO)bis(1-methylimidazole-2-carbaldehyde oximato-κ2 N,O)manganese(III) perchlorate
In the title compound, [Mn(C5H6N3O)2(C3H7NO)]ClO4, the MnIII atom lies on the inversion centre of the centrosymmetric complex cation and has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, formed by two N atoms and two O atoms from two 1-methylimidazole-2-carbaldehyde oximate ligands and two O atoms from two dimethylformamide ligands. Perchlorate acts as a counterion to balance the charge. The crystal structure of the title compound is stabilized by C—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions
Adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics of water-insoluble crosslinked β-cyclodextrin polymer for phenol in aqueous solution
A water-insoluble β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) polymer was synthesized by reacting β-CD with hexamethyl- ene diisocyanate, and its adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics for phenol from aqueous solution was investi- gated. The kinetics of adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order model and the adsorption isotherms could be well fitted by the Freundlich adsorption equation. The values of thermodynamic parameters demonstrated that the adsorption was a physisorption in a spontaneous and exothermic process
Nonrigid Object Contact Estimation With Regional Unwrapping Transformer
Acquiring contact patterns between hands and nonrigid objects is a common
concern in the vision and robotics community. However, existing learning-based
methods focus more on contact with rigid ones from monocular images. When
adopting them for nonrigid contact, a major problem is that the existing
contact representation is restricted by the geometry of the object.
Consequently, contact neighborhoods are stored in an unordered manner and
contact features are difficult to align with image cues. At the core of our
approach lies a novel hand-object contact representation called RUPs (Region
Unwrapping Profiles), which unwrap the roughly estimated hand-object surfaces
as multiple high-resolution 2D regional profiles. The region grouping strategy
is consistent with the hand kinematic bone division because they are the
primitive initiators for a composite contact pattern. Based on this
representation, our Regional Unwrapping Transformer (RUFormer) learns the
correlation priors across regions from monocular inputs and predicts
corresponding contact and deformed transformations. Our experiments demonstrate
that the proposed framework can robustly estimate the deformed degrees and
deformed transformations, which makes it suitable for both nonrigid and rigid
contact.Comment: Accepted by ICCV202

To investigate the therapeutic effects of PN on intestinal inflammation and microvascular injury and its mechanisms, dextran sodium sulfate- (DSS-) or iodoacetamide- (IA-) induced rat colitis models were used. After colitis model was established, PN was orally administered for 7 days at daily dosage of 1.0 g/kg. Obvious colonic inflammation and mucosal injuries and microvessels were observed in DSS- and IA-induced colitis groups. DAI scores, serum concentrations of VEGFA121, VEGFA165, VEGFA165/VEGFA121, IL-6, and TNF-α, and expression of Rap1GAP and TSP1 proteins in the colon were significantly higher while serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-10 and MVD in colon were significantly lower in the colitis model groups than in the normal control group. PN promoted repair of colonic mucosal injury and microvessels, attenuated inflammation, and decreased DAI scores in rats with colitis. PN also decreased the serum concentrations of VEGFA121, VEGFA165, VEGFA165/VEGFA121, IL-6, and TNF-α and increased the serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-10, with the expression of Rap1GAP and TSP1 proteins in colonic mucosa being downregulated. The constituents of PN were identified with HPLC-DAD. To sum up, PN could promote repair of injuries of colonic mucosa and microvessels via downregulating VEGFA isoforms and inhibiting Rap1GAP/TSP1 signaling pathway
